I am looking forward to this project because I have not worked with sound editing yet. I have always wanted to try with Garage Band or another program, but I never had the time or reason to. I am interested to see what I can come up with! For my project, I want to paint a picture or a scene with my finished project. This will be interesting with no visuals, only sound. The final interpretation will be up to the listener, but I hope to be successful with a consistent theme.
Last week, I saw a dance production at the University Theatre. This part in particular was a solo of just one dancer. The other dancers rushed off the stage, but this dancer stayed behind. We heard upbeat music and cheering from off the stage. The solo dancer began to dance on their own to flashing strobe lights. We heard more cheering, and “go go go go!” still coming from somewhere out of sight.
This project brought me back to this performance. Although the audience could only see one soloist, we knew that this was actually a performance of someone who had stepped outside of a house party. We never saw the party or any visual indication of it, from just the auditory clues we were able to make that connection.
I hope to create an auditory scene like the CU dancers were able to. From the sounds I have heard so far, it seems like there are many options for outside sounds, which could be an opportunity to create a really cool outdoor scene! I also heard a really interesting clock-ticking sound, which I hope to incorporate somehow.
